Mr. Marwood spent 20 years at Caterpillar progressing through a variety of increasingly responsible international management positions, including assignments in the United States, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and S.E. Asia. He also spent an additional 10 years managing two Caterpillar dealer organizations, and recently led a special project team that did an in-depth assessment of the Caterpillar distribution system in Japan and identified opportunities for improvement.
Atlantic Equipment and Power Ltd. (Caterpillar Bahamas)
President and Chief Operating Officer with full P&L responsibility for this Caterpillar dealership in the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos and the Cayman Islands. During this 5½ -year restructuring and turnaround assignment, the business was returned to consistent profitability and put on a sustainable growth path that led to a divestiture.
Capital Machinery Limited (Caterpillar Taiwan)
Managing Director with full P&L responsibility for this Caterpillar dealership in Taiwan. During this five-year assignment, Mr. Marwood established a new strategic direction and redefined and restructured the business to beat the Japanese competition. These actions resulted in an 8-fold increase in sales and profitability and a 7-fold increase in market share, making Caterpillar products the market leader.
Canadian Kenworth Ltd. (Mississauga, Canada)
Vice-President in charge of sales, marketing and manufacturing operations with P&L responsibilities. This $400 million business manufactured and sold custom-built heavy-duty on-highway trucks throughout Canada and internationally. Implemented cost reduction, quality improvement and capital investment projects that doubled sales and profitability during an interim 3½-year assignment.
Crane Canada Inc. (Montreal, Canada)
President and Director with full P&L responsibilities; this multi-plant manufacturing company served the building construction industry. Lean Six-Sigma methodology was applied and the business was restructured in preparation for an eventual divestiture. Manufacturing costs were reduced and sales, profitability and cash flow increased significantly.
Robins & Myers Ltd.; Prochem™ Ltd.; JWI Inc. (Toronto, Canada)
General Manager with full P&L responsibilities, including manufacturing and sales of specialized industrial mixers, pumps and valves throughout Canada.
